My Rating- 5 Stars
Synopsis- The White King has crossed the line, sounded the horn, sent out the wolves.
When blood is shed and life is lost the reality of Ari’s position as both hunter and prey finally sets in. It seems her father will stop at nothing to force her will to his own and distracted by Charlie’s latest mistake and her seemingly misguided attraction to Jai, Ari never thought to fear anyone else but the Jinn King.
Blindsided and attacked, Ari learns a new wolf has joined the hunt. A dark sorcerer believes he knows a way to bleed the power of the Seal and wield it as his own, and he is even less patient than The White King.
The War for the Seal has only just begun… and it’s time for Ari to turn it on its head. It’s time for Ari to stop acting like the hunted. It’s time for Ari to become the hunter.
My Review- Yet another fantastic book I couldnt put down!
After reading Smokeless Fire I immediately bought the second in the series and read it within a day! On to the third very soon...
Ari has so much to cope with already. The loss of her only family, the loss of Charlie to his many addictions, loss of her friends and normal teenage life and it doesnt get any easier in Scorched Skies. Before I go on I have to say the titles to these books are great and the covers are beautiful. They were the first things to attract me to the series.
Ari is wanted by many of the Jinn for being the mythical Seal of Solomon, a magical weapon that can control good and evil Jinn. As well as her real father The White King and Azazil, she is also wanted
by some of the other kings. The Gleaming King's son is obsessed with power and Hell bent on capturing Ari and using her power for himself. Who ever has Ari has the power to control other Jinn and more.
Charlie has become obsessed with his new magical abilities as well as revenge on the Jinn who killed his little brother two years ago. Ari cant believe that, even though he says he loves her,he doesnt love her more than the idea of killing the Jinn. Jai tries to push her away even though his love for her is consuming. Ari hates that she is just a weak little girl to them and is determined to become the Hunter
instead of always being the Hunted.
This book, yet again, kept me rivited. I refused to put it down until the end and hated the thought of it
ending. Every book I read is one book closer to the end of the series. I love Ari's character so much. She doesnt always make the right choices, she is weak at times, strong at others but altogether she is caring and loving despite how she is treated. Jai, my favourite character, is tortured and abused and full of passion and love he tries to bury. The romance is steamy and always keeping you on the edge of your seat, Will they kiss now? Won't they? Damn why did their moment get interrupted!! its deliciously frustrating and I can't wait until Ari and Jai can finally be together, I even hope Charlie finds someone too.
Samantha Young has a great writing style and a great sense of her characters personalities and feelings. You can tell she understands them and knows them inside out. I hope Ari grows ever stronger and I truly hope her and Jai can be happy. I havent felt this excited for a series since I read the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.
