Author- Sarah J. Maas My Rating- 5 Stars (and many more) Synopsis- Feyre survived Amarantha's clutches to return to the Spring Court—but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can't forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin's people. Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. |
With more than a million copies sold of her beloved Throne of Glass series, Sarah J. Maas's masterful storytelling brings this second book in her seductive and action-packed series to new heights.
My Review- This has to be by far the best book I have read this year. Sarah J. Maas is fast becoming my favourite author and I can barely wait for the next book in the series.
She throws you in to adventure and magic and action and romance the moment you open the book to the first page and you never want to come out! The characters are amazing, and their development keeps you on the edge of your seat. The plot is perfectly paced and fantastically written. It keeps you guessing, takes you one way then the next, more and more unfolding with every chapter. The way she brings important pieces of story from earlier in the book that you had not thought to dwell on, and weaves them in to the story leaves you breathless.
Feyre is extremely powerful, having been remade by all the High Lords of the Fae lands and is near unique. Rysand is the complete opposite of Tamlin and I found myself adoring him from the beginning of the book. The way he treats Feyre and his Court and family and how you get a glimpse of the real person beneath the darkness of his duties is lovely to read. Every character in this book has their part to play, each has a history and their own story to tell. There is no 'fluff', every moment has a meaning, even the scenes where Feyre is training and learning magic, there is always more going on in the background. We are fed parts of the plot for us to put together as we read on. Then she unleashes emotion on you and leaves you gripping the book and praying everything works out right.
The last few chapters of this book captured me. I was close to crying at the conclusion and the cliffhanger. My heart broke for the characters and I can only hope it all works out in the next book. Even though I feel my heart may get broken a few more times.
